| Summary: | 碩士 === 長庚大學 === 護理學研究所 === 92 === The purpose of this study was to explore the compliance to oral chemotherapy regimen for colorectal cancer patients and its relevant factors. Data were collected in colorectal surgical clinic of VGHTC from January to May 2002. Thirty four subjects who only took oral UFUR as their chemotherapy agent enrolled in the study. Each subject was interviewed at three time points, the enrollment ( T0 ), and 4 weeks after ( T1 ) and 8 weeks after ( T2 ). The study measure the following variables : medication compliance, symptoms distress, medication self-efficacy, patients-physician trust, and knowledge of oral chemotherapy.
The study results showed the mean of self-reported compliance was 4.59 ~ 4.81 (1-5), the percentage of prescribed medication taken by patients was 93 ~ 94 %. The appointment return rate was 85.3 % at T1 and 46.7 % at T2. Knowledge of oral chemotherapy, medication self-efficacy, patients-physician trust had positive correlations with medication compliance at T0. But at T1 only knowledge of oral chemotherapy had positive correlation and at T2 only diagnosis duration had negative correlation with medication compliance. Disease status or demographic variables had no effect on medication compliance or appointment return rate. In the analysis of GEE model, time had no effect on medication compliance, only the knowledge of oral chemotherapy could significantly predict patients’ medication compliance.
