Battery management is relatively simple in low-power applications and, thus, a great number of integrated solutions are available. However, in high-power systems, long battery strings of batteries are used and the probability of problem occurrence is increased. In this thesis, a MSP430f449-based battery management system for series connected battery pack which may contain up to seven battery cells is presented. The proposed BMS consist of a charger、a graphical Windows-based monitoring user interface、a digital control board and peripheral modules. In order to enhance the accuracy of the measurement, digital signal processing (DSP) techniques are used to implement the control algorithm. According to the experimental results, the mean error of the battery voltage reading is less than 20 mV, and the battery charge/dischage protection is successfully realized.
