Most of medical instruments are very huge that one should go to hospital for general health examination which spends lots of resources. Therefore, the development of a home-care portable medical instrument is necessary to achieve a high-quality, low-cost and convenient health-care system. In this thesis, an arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) monitoring system with wireless transmission is developed. The developed system is based on the MSP430F449 microprocessor (Texas Instrument, USA) and the nRF2401 wireless module (Nordic VLSI Corporation). The measured Sao2 is display on the LCD and transmitted to bedside home-care system via the wireless module. Besides, to achieve multiple access of personal medical information, a wireless communication protocol based on the slotted aloha was developed and implemented on the proposed portable SaO2 measurement system.
