First, using interactive user-product-environment system to divide the environmental factor of bicycle operation into the slopes and speeds, and the bicycle function factors are gear ratio, and about human's subjective factor is optimal cycling experience. The experiments were carried out followed by rules of fraction factorial designs. Slopes, speeds and gear ratio were employed as carrier factors. The optimal cycling experience, cycling power and heart rate were measured factors, and then analysed these measuring factors by statistics and regression analysis. . The experiment result is 0.8, 1, 1.42, 1.53, 1.66, 2.55 optimal gear ratio, 320% maximum variation. The propose of research is to figure out a design guidelines for the optimal gear ratio of city bikes, and hopefully, it could be helpful for a practice design and related studies.
