methods. Gear shaping is an efficient and adaptive gear production
method that can be used to cut all kinds of the cylindrical gears. Shaping
can be used to cut gears that can’t be easily cut by hobbing, such as the
stacked gear shaft and the internal gears. Most researches about gear
shaping focus on the theoretical tooth profile of the shaper, but the tooth
profile of a real shaper is quite different from a theoretical shaper. The
mathematical models proposed by the previous researches for the
shapped gear are based on the theoretical shaper, therefore, the errors of
shapped tooth surface due to rack angle, side clearance angle and the tip
relief angle are not clearly shown in the literatures. The main subjects of
this research are:
(1) Develop a parametric mathematical model for the shaper considering
the grinding process.
(2) Develop a mathematical model to simulate modern CNC shaping
machine.
(3) Study the effects of the shaping machine setup on the tooth form
accuracy.
(4) Study the effects of the shaper resharpening on the tooth profile
accuracy.
