Java provides powerful extensibility and plasticity for new electronic devices. With it’s cross-platform, a developer can pay more attention to create the applications on embedded devices even on different hardware platforms. Since Linux source is open, the company can tailor the source code for the feature of productions. Besides Linux kernel is also free, so it can decrease the cost. In this thesis, we attempt to implement a Home Robot Monitor System(HRMS). We have established the J2ME CLDC/MIDP application environment on embedded Linux, and developed the software layer of the system by Java and Qt, the command can be sent to the robot via Bluetooth technology. The concept of system is that users can remote control the robot by mobile device via internet, and then robot follows the command to move to any position in a house. From the mobile devices, user can see the real-time home video which is carried by the camera on the robot. So users can control security of a vacant house even they are not at home.
