In the paper, mechanism of livestock stunning is first discussed to determine the electric parameters for the proposed stunner. Then, a stunner is designed corresponding to these electric parameters. To achieve parameter auto tuning, the stunner is controlled by a microprocessor. The stunner can be supplied by both battery and utility power systems. In addition, in utility line system a power factor corrector is added to improve power factor and reduce current harmonics to meet the regulation of IEC1000-3-2.
