Past research reviewed that the adoption model has been a crucial issue to ensure the success of KM implementation. As so, a good understanding on the characteristics of the KM tool as well as the social norm in KM adoption is a must prior to KM implementation. This research studies the personal knowledge management issue by investigating PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) adoption of insurance industry in Taiwan. The objective of the research is to examine the characteristic and the norm in PDA tool adoption for Taiwan’s Insurance Industries. Case study methodology is applied in the study. In addition, secondary data sources are acquired as supplements in the analysis. The results of data analysis indicate that: 1.Trust (trust in system and organization) plays a significant role in the early stage of PDA adoption. 2.The employee’s IT efficiency is crucial for the success of PDA adoption. 3.There is a tendency to adopt the PDA with mobile phone function in the sale forces. 4.It is a consensus that the professional PDA will enhance the work efficiency and effectiveness. 5.The more the PDA has personalized functions, the less the PDA is used for knowledge sharing and dissemination.
