Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 成人及繼續教育研究所 === 92 === A Study of the Application of Knowledge Management to the Public Libraries -A Case Study of Taipei Public Library Advisor: Dr. Ming-Lieh Wu Student: Shu-Hui Ku Department of Adult and Continuing Education National Chung Cheng University Abstract The researches of Knowledge Management are mainly on enterprises, not on the public libraries in past years. Therefore, this study tried to investigate the current situation of the application of Knowledge Management in Taipei Public Library in order to provide as the reference to the libraries when they implement Knowledge Management. The methodology used in the study composes of questionnaire and semi- structured interview. A sample of 310 was drawn from the Taipei Public Library, and the rate of valuable questionnaire was 85.54%. The data collected were analyzed by the descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The findings of the study are as the following, 1. The perception of Knowledge Management of the librarians in Taipei Public Library is good. 2. The current situation of the application of Knowledge Management in Taipei Public Library is good. 3. There are no significant differences in the librarians’ perception of Knowledge Management in terms of different personal backgrounds in Taipei Public Library. 4. There are no significant differences in the librarians’ perception of the driving factors of Knowledge Management in terms of different personal backgrounds in Taipei Public Library. 5. There are no significant differences in the librarians’ perception of the procedure of Knowledge Management in terms of different personal backgrounds in Taipei Public Library. 6. There is high positive correlation between “the perception of Knowledge Management” and “the driving factors of Knowledge Management” or “the procedure of Knowledge Management.” 7. The main difficulty Taipei Public Library encountered is the deficiency of specially assigned unit for promoting Knowledge Management. 8. Taipei Public Library possesses the beneficial mechanism for implementing Knowledge Management, such as complete information system, well-designed job assignment, adequate educational training, setting up public database, setting up organizational memory, establishing ISO standard operation procedure and service, promoting quality management and performance management. At last, according to the findings of the research, the researcher offers some concrete suggestions for the authorities, the libraries and the further studies.
