Abstract
There are five purposes that are addressed in my research to assess the effectiveness of people attending the adult education-training program to become teachers.
First, assess the results of those attending training, which includes such things as goal achieve-ment percentage, trainees’ satisfaction with the training course, learning curve and using training knowledge in class.
Secondly, analyze the relationship between trainees’ experience/background and the training program’s effectiveness.
Thirdly, address the relationship between the trainees’ motivation and their achievement in the educational environment.
Fourthly, address the relationship between the trainees’ satisfaction with training curriculum, individual learning curve and how often they put it in practice by using learning materials.
Fifthly, present the relationship among training satisfaction (response), individual learning curve (learning), and practice by using training knowledge.
In order to achieve the above five purposes, the researcher gathered related studies from history based on statistic surveys from questionnaires named “The effectiveness survey based on Adult education teachers training program”. In March 2003, 362 trainees were targeted as a sample that attended the Adult education teachers training program, sponsored by the Chinese Culture Revolution Mental Commitment Association. First, 100 trial samples were issued, followed by 258 official samples. Collecting 230 samples which is a 92.82 percent feedback rate, but only 197 of the responses were valid, thus there was a 85.65 valid feedback rate.
The analysis of the survey summary is as follows:
1.Effectiveness is outstanding after attending the training courses.
2.Gender, seniority, age, and individual motivation are important factors for goal-achievement.
3.There are positive influences between individual motivation and training program.
4.There is a positive relationship among trainees’ satisfaction, individual achievement and practical use in class.
5.Successful program result can be predicted by the students' improving abilities during class practice, and their satisfaction with their capability to use their improved teaching skills.
