In this study, questionnaire survey was conducted as research method, and 1350 of retired teachers and school administrators of Association of Retired Teachers in Chia-Yi Area were research subjects. 600 of questionnaires were sent out, whereby 395 were responded, 382 effective, and the effective responding rate was 63.6%. The data collected was analyzed with descriptive statistics, one-way ANAOVA, chi-square test, independent t-test, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The major conclusion of this study included: 1. As for the participation of retired teachers and school administrators, a weekly participation of 1 to 3 times was the most common situation. As$ for the duration, up to 3 hours of weekly participation was most common. Generally, the subjects participated with good attitude. 2. The learning of retired teacher/school administrators was performed most commonly in day-time during weekdays. The most common venue was social-educational organization while the elderly colleges or the senior colleges were their secondly favorite. 3. The participation of life-long learning varied significantly due to age, way of retirement, retirement pre-plan, and health condition. 4. Presently, among the research subjects, volunteering is the top choice. 4 to 6 working hours (per week) is most common. And the job contents relates to education or culture. 5. The re-employment of retired teachers/school administrators varies significantly due to age, way of retirement, retirement pre-plan, and health condition. 6. Subjects who were not re-employed showed average interests in participation of volunteering jobs and the interests of re-employment were low. 7. Subjects who continued to work demonstrate high levels of work dedication and sense of achievement from working. 8. Participation in life-long learning is highly relevant to re-employment. According to the findings and conclusion of the above study, the suggestions are: 1. Increase the rate of participation of life-long learning by encouraging the retired teacher and school administrators. 2. Consider the physical characteristics of the retired teachers/school administrators, and arrange suitable environment, time, and venue for learning. 3. Re-utilize the professional skills of retired teachers and school administrators to education-related organizations by part-time employment. 4. Properly planning the post-retirement life to build up another golden page of life. 5. Integrate the human resources of the retired teachers and school administrators who are interested in volunteering in order to pass forward the light and heat of life. 6. Encouraging the retired teachers and school administrators to resume working, to enrich their lives, and to find self value. 7. Abstract
