The results of the study will serve as references in terms of implementing world-minded education for the school authorities and administration sections. This study undertook a review of related literature, in order to analyze and understand the related theories of world-minded attitudes and education. Furthermore, through research methods, a “World-Minded Attitudes Questionnaire for Students at Institutes and Universities of Science and Technology in Taiwan,” is developed by translating and adapting from Sampson and Smith’s questionnaire (1957). The valid research sample totaled 853 students, and the retrieval ratio was 72.91. By applying the statistical techniques of frequency distribution, percentage, the T-test, and One-way ANOVA in the data analysis, the results were derived as followed. 1.The results indicated that the students’ world-minded attitudes level was upper-intermediate. 2. Background variables:(1)The genders of the students did result in significant difference in the aspect of “war.” And the female appeared more active than the male. (2)In the aspect of “religion,” the sophomores appeared significantly more active than the freshmen. (3)In the spheres of “immigration” and “government,” business and administrative majors were more aggressive than foreign language majors. (4)The students who had passed the fifth grade of language proficiency test were more active in the aspect “race” than those who had not. Besides, in the “race” part, those students who have learned more than three languages are more aggressive than those who have only learned two. 3. The Sources of influence (1)The choice of business in the future has an obvious influence on the world-minded attitudes, as well as on the aspect of education among students at institutes or universities of science and technology. (2)In the aspect of “religion”, they are more aggressive than those who don’t have any plans to continue their education.(3)In the aspect of “religion,” those who spent 7-14 hours a week on the mass media were more active than those who spent 7 hours or less.(4)In the aspect of “immigration,” those who had taken courses about social science and natural science were more active than those who had taken the humanities. Based on the results, suggestions are recommended as follow: 1. The students’ level of world-minded should be understood and every aspect of their world-minded needs promoting. 2. The students’ foreign language abilities should be strengthened to broaden their world vision. 3. The students should be encouraged to participate in social activities to develop their world-minded attitudes. 4. The students’ world-minded education should be emphasized to consolidate their care for the world. 5. Establishing the habit of lifelong learning improves students’ attitudes about worldview. 6. The students ought to be encouraged to get world-minded information to increase their chance of gaining resources. Chun–Mei Chou 周春美 學位論文 ; thesis 133 zh-TW |
