| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業設計系碩士班 === 91 === The mobile phone has become the necessity in the 21st century due to its easy-access and convenience. However, a number of complicated and useless optional functions set up in its software interface are additional and not designed based on users’ requirements. Therefore, I analyze the specific requirements for users surveying from different groups. According to this research, I realize the distinguishes and needs among the different groups as well as make a summary further on differences of icon distinguishes.
This research was applied to the experimental investigation to analyze the needs on functional options for the different groups’ needs. Furthermore, as per the research results comparing with functional options collected from the existing markets and custom design icons; I, therefore, can make the experiments among the different groups to realize the icon distinguish on the mobile phones and their applications on users. Then, the relative products with icon interface distinguish can be provided for references.
By this research, I found out that students have more demands on games, call diverts, and ring types, but the white-collar workers are focused on notes and network instead.Besides, every group has highly requirements on some basic functions, such as, checking “unanswered phones,” “answered phones,” “dialed phones,” “battery volume,” “clock setting,” and so on. With regard to the research on the icon interface, I conclude that different groups are not influenced by the icon distinguishes. The characteristics of well-distinguish icons have 1.) The standardized icon itself has highly distinguished 2.) The icon itself expresses good association 3.) Indicated symbols are much easier to convey the meaningful functions 4.) Symbolic icons convey functional messages and dictions. On the other hand, the characteristics of poor-distinguish have 1.) The icon itself conveys the wrong implications. 2.) Ideas and visual images are too similar. 3.) Misunderstandings are occurred easily due to the similar function operations. 4.) The icon conveys the ambiguous meanings, resulting in poor association for the suers.
This research results provide good references for the future designers on setting up the interface, and the result on the icon designs offer the relative and similar reference for them as well.
