1. To understand the implementation of children’s fitness of the kindergartens in Taipei City.
2. To understand children’s body composition and fitness of the kindergartens in Taipei City.
3. To compare gender differences on children’s body Composition and fitness of the kindergartens in Taipei City.
4. To develop reference norms of children’s body Composition and fitness of the kindergartens in Taipei City.
The subjects for this study included kindergarten directors and children. The Children’s Fitness Activities Questionnaire was administrated to the 405 kindergarten directors in Taipei City. 333 questionnaires were returned. There were 2129 children of over five years old by stratified random sampling from 24 kindergarten schools in this study in Taipei City. The data analyses were descriptive statistics and t-test in this study.
The essential conclusion is that:
一、 Dimensions of the children’s fitness implementation:
1. The physical education curriculum in the kindergartens was urgently to seek for education administrative organization to support teacher training and finance providing in Taipei City.
2. The kindergartens unimplemented children’s physical education curriculum because of lack of fields and teachers in Taipei City.
3. The kindergartens implementation of physical education curriculum was more rhythmical game and balling game than the others in Taipei City.
4. The kindergartens benefit of the physical education curriculum in increasing the children’s more movement ability (running, jumping, throwing) and promoting physical healthy development.
二、 Dimensions of body composition:
The tall and weight of the boys were significantly higher than the girls of kindergartens in Taipei City.
三、 Dimensions of children’s fitness:
The boys’ performance of 10 shuttle run, stand board jump, 20 dash, and crawl in “8” were significantly higher than the girls in Taipei City. The girls’ performance of flexibility was significantly higher than the boys. This study found no significant differences on continuing single-leg jumping and single leg —standing between boys and girls in Taipei City.
