Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺南藝術學院 === 藝術史與藝術評論研究所 === 91 === Abstract By using the metaphor of the "Great Theatre of The World”, 2002 Taipei Biennial hope to stimulate visitors to follow the ideas and clues of the artists to find the key to the real world around us that has been turned into a spectacle. After comparing the discourses of exhibition and works, this study tries to mention what the curator concerned was how the spectacle attracted the sights of viewers. But in the discourse, he did not distinguish between medium(concrete)and control method(abstract). On the contrast, the works that curators chose contain less interactive quality and gaiety of nations. And those are obviously related to the material meaning of “spectacle”. The second point of discourse is most of the works contain the “alienation”. Which can provide an insightful dialogue in order to stimulate spectators to actively enter the space of the artist’s works to explore their meanings. Then, viewers can transcend the spectacle in today’s society and re-examine life and the world with a lucid and broad mind.
