Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 91 === A study on specialized evaluation on universities Abstract The main purpose of this study is to shed light on the current situation of the specialized evaluation on universities in Taiwan through both theoretical analysis and empirical research. The conclusions and suggestions can be used as reference for both authorities of educational administration as well as local universities in implementing the specialized evaluation. In order to accomplish what is mentioned above, through the literature review and questionnaire survey, a questionnaire entitled “A Questionnaire Concerning the Specialized Evaluation on Universities and the Classification of the Disciplines” was used to collect data. A total of 1662 copies of the questionnaire were sent to public and private universities (excepting technological and vocational institutes), and 1157 valid samples were collected, with the validity rate of 77.14%. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and percentage homogeneity Chi-square test. The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1. The demand of teaching quality is the most important item in the specialized evaluation. 2. The index of the specialized evaluation should meet both qualitative and quantitative requirements. 3. In implementing the specialized evaluation, the most influential factor on the result is the selection of the members of the specialized evaluation committee. 4. The agent selected to conduct the specialized evaluation should be assigned to professional academic institutes or associations. 5. The most appropriate period to conduct the specialized evaluation is one day, and every three years is an appropriate cycle of the evaluation. 6. The main purpose of the specialized evaluation is to improve the quality of the universities. 7. It is better that the universities conduct the specialized evaluation on a voluntary basis or as appointed by educational administrative authorities. 8. The results of the evaluation should be announced descriptively. 9. The results of the evaluation should be utilized as the criteria of the approval of establishment of university departments and the graduate institutes, and student-numbers in admission. 10. The current classification of the disciplines should be modified. Finally, some suggestions based on the conclusions are proposed to the authorities of educational administration and local universities for further development.
