Key word: work stress, coronary heart disease , type A behavior pattern Name of Institute: Executive Master of Business Administration, Tamkang University Graduate Date: January, 2003 Degree Conferred: Master Name of student: 熊嘉寶 Advisor: 陳定國 博士 (中文姓名) Abstract: The goal of this study was to explore the relationship between work stress of the EMBA students and sign of the Coronary Heart Disease [CHD] , and tried to research if they are the high risk group of the Coronary Heart Disease due to their work stress、study and personal behavior. Besides, The research was also to analysis the correlation among the mediating variable, Type A behavior、inheritance factor and personal behavior factor. In brief , There were three purpose of this study: 1: To measure the degree of the work stress on EMBA students. 2: To explore the relationship between the behavior of EMBA students and work stress. 3: To explore the relationship between EMBA students and the sign of Coronary Heart Disease. This study’s sample population was limited to EMBA students , The survey instrument was personally delivered and collected by myself. A total of 160 questionnaires are distributed to EMBA students in TAMKANG University. All of the 160 subjects 106 were retained for the data analysis, and the result as follow: 1: Work stress and Type A behavior have a positive correlation. 2: Type A behavior and sign of the Coronary Heart Disease have a significant correlation. 3: Work stress and sign of the Coronary Heart Disease do not have correlation. 4: Family inheritance heart disease and family inheritance diabetes have a significant correlation. 5: Family inheritance heart disease and average blood pressure value have a significant correlation. 6: Sign of the CHD and average blood pressure value have a significant correlation. 7: Sign of the CHD and Family inheritance heart disease do not have correlation. 8: Degree of the smoking and sign of the CHD have a significant correlation. 9: Work stress and sign of the CHD do not have correlation. If there were no mediating variables. 10:Work stress and sign of the CHD have a significant correlation if sample had Type A behavior. 11:Work stress and sign of the CHD do not have correlation If sample smoking . 12:Work stress and sign of the CHD have a significant correlation if sample don’t smoke. 13:Work stress and sign of the CHD do not have correlation, if mediating factor were Family inheritance heart disease and family inheritance diabetes. Finally, I hope this study will help individuals and organizations alike to further understanding of the work stress and coronary heart disease , and provide some references for practical stress management.
