Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 會計學系 === 91 === Abstract Managing current assets should be a high priority in every firm. The ability of current asset converting to cash is very important to cash management. Therefore, measuring the cash conversion ability of current asset should take into account, corporation’s credit sales term, credit policy and relative factors. For express company, the average receivables collection period is 40~50 days. However, the most operation expense for express company is air-freight cost which need to be paid within 15 days. Therefore, effective management of receivables is vital to express company. The research is uses case study to compare the formulation of policy and execution of receivables management of two well-known worldwide express companies in Taiwan, DHL and FedEx. The study has two following findings: Phase I: The factors of case’s background affect its formulation of policy: 1. Parent company’s culture affects its organization policy 2. Localization affects its credit policy: payment due date and terms of payment 3. The attitude of management affects its organization policy 4. Localization affects its incentive policy 5. The attitude of management affects its collection policy and credit policy of bad debt handling and incentive policy 6. Parent company’s policy affects its authorization of sales discount Phase II: The case’s management of policy execution and performance evaluation: 1. The attitude and method of management affects its policy execution. 2. Quantitative consideration is very important to formulation of policy. 3. Incentive policy affects its execution of receivable collection. 4. Collector’s profession is an important factor to customer satisfaction
