The great powers retreated from the Southeast Asia. The PRC not only develop the foreign relations with ASEAN countries, but also economic cooperations. This thesis mainly explore the economic relations between the PRC and ASEAN, and the PRC’s evolution of economic strategy on ASEAN. The research methods adopted in this research are literature survey, such as depending on some valuable articles, research papers and information from Internet which focus on this field. This thesis is composed of seven chapters as following: Chapter 1: As an introduction, elucidates author’s motives, purposes, approaches, methods, range, and limitations to write this thesis. Chapter 2: The domestic and international factors influencing the PRC and ASEAN economic relations. Chapter 3: Discuss the perception of the PRC and its Strategic aim and scenarios. Chapter 4: Focus on the PRC’s political and economic policies and implementation. Chapter 5: The review of PRC-ASEAN politic and economic relations. Chapter 6: The Influences by changes of economic relations between the PRC and ASEAN. Chapter 7: Conclusion. The findings are as follows: 1. The economic relations between the PRC and ASEAN become much deeper. 2. The development of relations between the PRC and ASEAN restrict the room of the ROC’s foreign relations. 3. The close economic relations between the PRC and ASEAN will be a challenge to U.S. and Japan. 4. The different opinions from intra-ASEAN will gradually appear.
