Such detrimental effects are proportional to the operating speed if the mechanism design is not perfect. Therefore the purpose of this project is trying to find out the influence of inertia force acting to the frame when the stage starts and stops repeatedly. The other aim of the study is to find out suitable approaches to lower the magnitude of shaking force. A high speed feed drive system with high helix ball screw is studied and designed. The kinematic and dynamic characteristics of a virtual prototype under different kinds of working conditions are simulated using commercial mechanical simulation software. For verification a physical prototype is built and the shaking force is measured. The differences of the force between the experimental data and numerical value are analyzed. Meanwhile the positioning accuracy and vibration are studied to understand the effects of inertia force on such parameters.
