Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 電機工程系碩士班 === 91 === In this work, firstly, various kinds of erbium-doped fibers (EDFAs) have been measured, characterized and analyzed. By using 980 nm and 1480 nm diodes as pumping sources, the performances of EDFAs were investigated in detail with three different kinds of pumping schemes.
Secondly, a 1-km long nonlinear fiber Raman amplifier, pumped at 1480 nm wavelength, has been measured particularly on its fundamental properties. Several combinations of EDFA and FRA were set up as optical amplifiers and system performance was surveyed and compared, in order to realize their specific figure of merits.
Lastly, the performances of composite EDFAs were precisely measured and investigated by implementing a lock-in amplifier system. We have observed the important role of isolator placement in between two EDFAs, and have obtained a clue to know how far an isolator can affect the system performance of composite EDFAs.
