In real application, due to disconnecting faults and maintenance reason, the auto distribution must proceed load transfer which change the structure of distribution system and result in the coordination protection setting of protection relays system must be modified. The object of this thesis is applicating genetic algorithm to feeder protection systems of loop distribution system and using artificial intelligence algorithm model to absorb the optimal setting of protection coordination of protection relays.
First, we introduce the principle of feeder protective apparatus and select adequate protective equipments in accordance with different types of distribution system, using the least square error method to simulate the time/current curve and applicate simulation formula to digital the curve data, Secondary, using augmented incidence matrix method to find the exact pairs of primary/backup protection relay and find the relay tripping sequence of distribution lines.
According to the coordination principle of protective apparatus, list the limits of relay coordination, total the coordinate time interval of primary/backup protection relays and the minimum value of object function. We can use genetic algorithm to find out the optimal setting of relays in whole protection coordination system and made the protective apparatus normally to comply with the design guide of relays.
