The main purpose of this study was to investigate the interacted relation among people, public art works and environment from public artistic types, hoping to find out fine-interacted public artistic types. First, the researcher made a pilot study of public art works, reorganized the definitions proposed by home and abroad experts and internal rules and regulations in force, and advanced the viewpoint of this study. Second, the researcher discussed the components of public art from the environmental, artistic and practical dimensions, to analyze public art works and to understand present set-up conditions of public art works in Taiwan. Third, the researcher employed the field observation method, recording the interaction between people and works. Finally, questionnaire survey method was employed to obtain people’s cognition, opinions and semantics toward public art works. Based on the major findings of this study, suggestions are made respectively for the future public art set-up.
