The variables of layout on printed page in reading experiment are article capacity and word size; The variables of layout on printed page in searching experiment are types of objectives and word size. Individual variables such as gender and reading habits are also analsized. Both methods of experiment and questionnaire are taken and 30-30 two groups of students study in Tunghai University are the samples for reading and searching experiments respectively. The measurement of visual fatigue are evaluated by variations of critical flicker fusion (CFF), subjective assessment. The points of subjective assessment are analyzed by principal component analysis. Finally, the analysis of data was processed with SPSS package software. ANOVA, Duncan’s multiple-range test and cross effects of second-order have been used in this study. The following 6 conclusions were made. 1. For effect on reading performance of shorter article, the difference of media is significant. Paper document and PDA are better; Result is the same significant on longer article, paper document is better. 2. For effect on word size of longer article, the difference is significant. 3. For effect on reading habit, besides the number of errors on shorter article, the other terms are all significant. 4. For effect on searching performance, the difference of media and word size are all significant. Bigger size is faster, and smaller size is more correct. 5. For effect on variations of critical flicker fusion frequency(CFF), although the result among three media isn’t significant, the variation of paper document is bigger than other media. 6. For the effect on subjective assessment of visual fatigue, the cognitions between male and female are very different. Tam Chan 陳潭 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 145 zh-TW
