The composing actually reflects the feature of the music development. As an independent art, the process of the composing shows first of all the characteristic of the thinking. The composers feel music deeply from the hearts and present their feelings concretely through the music. The composers are influenced directly by the social culture. The constant trials of the new and old values influence deeply the composing. In the twentieth century the flute composing presents a variety of thoughts and techniques. Among the composers and the works the ways of the composing and the appreciation have many schools. The composers have absolutely freedom. The ear of the flute co-composing has been finished. Insteads it is the new ear of the composing with personal style. In Taiwan there are a lot of flute works to enrich the music. This thesis focuses on seven of the present and representative unaccompanied flute solo works in Taiwan. With the study of their environments, backgrounds evaluations and the performances, we will be able to catch the contents and the motives of the works and further to understand the ideas and composing of the composers. The study shows that the composers were stimulated by the modern multi-art. Through their personal thoughts of art, they utilized wisely the materials of the music in variety. With the process of the study, we expect more and more music researchers and plays have more understanding and acceptation to these seven works. The researchers and players are benefited in the composing, playing and appreciation. Further to show the composing values of the works.
