Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 企業管理學系 === 91 === IC design industry plays important role in Taiwan’s semi-conductor infrastructure value chain. Under the industrial amass effect, Taiwan has even become World Wide No.2 largest IC design center second only to U.S. Recently, Taiwan government’s policy toward investment in China has changed from “No hurry, but endurance” to” Open aggressively with efficient management”, has already opened 8 inch wafer foundry to mainland China investment in Aug, 2002. With wafer foundry going west, IC design houses have to follow up with the steps to China because they rely on wafer foundry very much and face the requirement of product manufacturing localization.
Through the information gathering and personal cases interview, this research intends to analyze and summarize with “Five forces model”, “Diamond model”, “International market entry modes”, and “SWOT ”analyses to propose the possible strategies of IC design houses how to invest in China. The research hopes to provide IC design house for the reference and suggestion when they evaluate the investment in China.
This research tries to accomplish the following objectives:
1. Analyze the IC deign industry status of global and both side of Taiwan’s strait.
2. Discuss how to develop win-win business model between Taiwan and China IC design industry.
3. Discuss the model and strategies for Taiwan IC design houses investment in China.
