“New Product Development Design- Continuous Exploration and Innovation”, a popular subject which has been widely and constantly discussed by the enterprises during the new product development cycle – How to improve the quality of new product development design via re-evaluation of appropriate design methodology, reducing the gap between conceptual design and physical reality, and closely connecting the relationship between consumers and products with optimized procedure. This research is aimed at the strategic procedure for new product development design with case studies to further gain insight into practical operations within organizations. The research methodology adopts in-depth interview with semi-structured questionnaire survey- Interview with designers, product managers, sales representatives and consumers respectively in terms of conceptual design and reality perception targeting at five own-branded new products. The final conclusion is made after the analysis of collected data. The main objectives of this research include:
1.To understand the significance of techniques and procedure for new product development design and to state the corresponding connections.
2.To understand the strategic thought for new product development design procedure and operations on practical basis within enterprises.
3.To enhance the quality improvement of new product development design by taking the consolidated conclusion and suggestion originated from this research.
The major discoveries and outcome from the research contain:
1.The strategies for development design should be the key factor for the variation of strategic design process flow.
2.The strategies of development design, design procedure and the product representation are with corresponding relations structure-wise.
3.The viewpoints from sales and marketing should be early involved and integrated into the phases of product design research and conceptual design.
4.There is obvious connection between the features of a product and the degree of the involvement of each concerned party, and which will further affect the variation of design flow.
