In a market when the products differentiations are rapidly reduced due to mass production, how can product designers transform their understandings and interpretations of attributes of materials , sensational experiences , and cultural characteristics into designing originalities is getting more and more imperative . The projected image of texture, one of the most essential elements of product design originality, is the major topic we will discuss in this thesis. From the studies of literatures and practices, we concluded the developmental elements of product design originality and the essentials exhibited from the projected images of texture. By using the texture as the interface between products and sensational images of consumers, some design techniques were performed in order to break the conventional thinking came with the products and inject new originalities into the product design. Finally, a thinking model of design originality from the “projected images of texture” was introduced and its practicability was also confirmed from the implementation and interviews.
