The model of this research is based on three traditional theories, including gender role theory, resources theory, and time availability, which are constructed into two levels: individual and family. The method of this study is the determinant sampling approach. A total of the sample is 590, which is limited in 5th and 6th grade elementary students who are selected from Shih Lin, Pei Tou, Nei Hu, Wan Hua, Sin Yi, and Wen Shan districts of Taipei City. The data is from the questionnaire of “The participation in housework of elementary high grades students”. The main findings of this study are as follows: 1.The students do more housework in cleaning clothes and in fixing household affairs. 2.The students tend to have equal gender role attitude, and female student have stronger concepts of equal rights than males’ do. 3.The female students do more housework than the male students do. 4.The students who are eldest and in the middle ranking do more housework than those of other rankings. 5.Students with low-educated fathers and high-educated mothers do more housework in meal handling, clothes cleaning, family interaction, and pet care. 6.The students with single-parent families do more housework than those with two-parents families. 7.The students whose fathers are jobless or have part-time jobs do more housework than those whose fathers have full-time jobs.
