碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 設計研究所 === 91 === Abstract The product design quality holds a considerably important position in the product design activities of firms, and it influences the survival lifeline of firms. And the product design quality should also be tested with evaluation method to ascertain that the product has arrived at the expected result quality. This current study adopts the questionnaire investigation and case interview as the research method. In the questionnaire investigation, the product design quality evaluation standard that is identified by the designer and consumer is investigated, and the statistics result is used as the basis of product design quality evaluation item. The product design evaluation table divides the evaluation items into nine main dimensions that are artistic, comfort, convenience, originality, environment, economy, communication, safety, and practicability, and provide it as the reference for the enterprises in executing more detailed examination on the product design quality. We hope to make some contributions to the firms in product design quality evaluation through the overall evaluation standard that is set after quantification investigation analysis, and achieve the purpose of promoting the overall design quality. The main conclusions of this study are: (1) Consumers and product designers commonly think that the most important and basic condition of product is the application safety of the product. (2) The consumers’ demand for the application function of the product is higher than the psychological function demand, while the product designers place higher importance in using the design technique to satisfy the user’s visual and psychological demands. (3) Consumers and product designers all think that the conformity of the product to the basic function demand of the operation is the important product design quality. To study the influence of the product development organization on product design quality, we use the product development organizations defined by Ulrich and Eppinger that are functional organizations, project organizations, lightweight project organizations, and heavyweight project organizations as the theoretical basis. And then, the influence of the product development organizations on product design quality is learnt through the product design quality evaluation and project interview method. The main finds are as follow: (1) The reason why the lightweight and heavyweight project organizations can get ahead of the functional development organizations by a wide margin, may be because they has the condition of cross function personnel cooperation, the clear and definite direction of the product development design, the project manager can effectively control the team development and coordination operation and the integrity of market evaluation information, and etc, which further improve the product design quality. (2) The lightweight and heavyweight development organizations, and the project organizations are all cross function organizations and the influence of both organization on product design quality is not significant.(3)The originality and communication aspect of the product design quality of functional development organizations may have been improved due to the similarity in the technology field of the personnel in the organizations.(4)The project organizations may be organized by a long term cross function, which promotes the design quality of artistic and comfort aspect.
