碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 營建工程系 === 91 === Shaking table tests of a scaled down three-story steel structure with supplemental nonlinear viscous dampers were conducted in this study. One of the objectives of the study was to investigate the general inelastic seismic behavior of the steel structure with added nonlinear viscous dampers. The test structure was excited well into inelastic range to simulate the condition of the structure under strong earthquake ground motions. The energy dissipations respectively by the hysteresis of viscous dampers and the inelastic deformation of the structure during a strong ground excitation were compared using energy time history analysis. Analytical study of the structure without dampers was also performed using IDARC so that the inelastic responses of the structure with and without dampers could be compared. Momentary input energy method was employed to compare the seismic performance of the structure with and without dampers. Analytical correlation using SAP2000 and IDARC with the experimental results was also conducted. The test results were also used to evaluate the appropriateness of the equivalent linear analysis procedure provided by NEHRP2000.
