The formulation of element free method used for the one dimensional problem is completed in this study. A program based on the formulation is also developed. Several problems are used for the verification of the problem. All of them are verified by the exact solution from axial-force theorem. Several parameter studies are accomplished by using this program. The parameters include the degree of polynomial, the number of nodes, the weighting functions, the value of penalty, the parameters used for the modified exponential weighting function, etc. The speed of convergence and the solution accuracy are compared for each case. Two methods can be used for the modification of boundary conditions. One is the penalty method, the other is lagrange multiplier method. These two methods are compared also.
