Different geometric conditions in the design space were defined and the Quasi-Newton method, which is an efficient unconstrained optimization algorithm, was used to find the optimal fin angles, fin thickness and the number of fins so that heat can be most promptly and effectively dissipated from heat sinks. Subsequently, the curve fins based on two-dimensional streamline were studied. We developed two models of fins, i.e., the streamline type and the modified streamline type. The models were used on different flow patterns in design space. Comparisons of the model’s results with the fin angle optimization results were made to determine the accuracy of the employed method. The result showed the streamline type and the modified streamline type placed near the heat sink outlet resulted in good heat transfer efficiency. 莊福盛 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 120 zh-TW
