Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 91 === In order to support quality of service (QoS) for real-time services, such as voice over Internet potocol (VoIP), video on demand (VoD) and other multimedia services, hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) networks must provide an effective priority scheme. The data over cable service interface specification v1.1 (DOCSIS v1.1) defines five upstream services to support per flow QoS. The cable modem termination system (CMTS) must periodically grant upstream transmission opportunities to the QoS flows based on their QoS parameters. In this thesis, we propose a maximum mean delay first (MMDF) algorithm to reduce the packet delay and the packet drop ratio. Simulation results demonstrate that MMDF algorithm can effectively reduce the packet delay and the packet drop ratio over that of the first come first serve (FCFS) and earliest deadline first (EDF) algorithm. Simulation results also show that MMDF algorithm can fairly schedule packets.
