However, the traditional controllers only accept the linear and circular command to approximate it. So, a lot of machining codes for shoe model cutting will be produced. It causes the heavy loading of the controller and also takes time for cutting process. According to the reason, this research applied the parametric curves theory and Macro language to develop Macro-Based curve commands and canned cycle commands. The user only needs to choose a suitable pattern and give necessary parameters for the canned cycle command so that the shoe model can be rapidly built up. Furthermore, to examine the developed technique, this research utilize the Windows-language Borland C++ Builder 4.0 to develop a shoe model design software with curve and pattern canned cycle command. The main feature of software MMI is focused on shoe scale, shoe model category, pattern and logo on shoe. The user can use the friendly MMI to build up the shoe model more easily and rapidly. To bring the design concept into the CNC controller, this research developed a Diagram-Dialogue MMI for shoe design and pattern canned cycle command. The user just inputs the necessary geometry and cutting parameters to design the shoe model which can be machined automatically. Finally, a PC-Based CNC mill is used to examine the developed technique. A traditional CNC controller can be promoted to a special one for shoe model manufacturing to add the application value. M.J.
