This thesis focuses on the study of how to find out a profitable business model for an enterprise facing a variety of information technology and management terminology in the information times. The main purposes of this study are as follows: (1) Classify the types of e-commerce business models, (2) The process of choosing business models, (3) Core competence and value needed in each model.
The framework of this research includes following steps: (1) Find out a decision-making process of choosing business models, (2) Classify types of business models, (3) Analyze values created in each business model, (4) Describe the core competence and success factors for each model.
From the reviewed literatures, following steps are listed for an enterprise to find its business model: (1) Analysis the environment then determine the competence ability and value configuration, (2) Determine the combination of business model, (3) Utilize the organization structure, business process, and information system to carry out model combinations. (4) Implement, feedback and adjust.
The contributions of this research are: (1) Nine e-commerce business models are proposed, (2) The procedures to choose business models for existing enterprises or new comers are found out, and it can serve as a guidance for an e-business, (3) Core competence and success factors of each model are proposed in expectation to provide useful suggestion for enterprises.
