Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 獸醫學研究所 === 91 === Abstract European eel cultures are more satisfying in Taiwan because of the shortage and high prices of Japanese elver in past few years. Introduction and application of recirculation system have been approved to be a good reason to choose European eel farming in Taiwan. However the farmers suffered from high mortality recently. Virus isolated from dead fish was identified as European eel Herpesvirus (EEHV) using transmissible electron microscopy (TEM). The histopathology study showed metabolic inclusion bodies in the epidermis of skin and melanomacrophage aggregates in the visceral organs. The aims of this study were to investigate physiochemical characteristics of EEHV and it’s shedding pattern under induced stress. In physiological study, the virus was growth well at 28℃. The virus became inactive at pH 3, and at 56℃ for 30 min. The virus was sensitive to IudR (5-iodo-2''-deoxyuridine), chloroform and ether. In latent infection study that was induced by intraperitoneal injection of dexamethasone, there was no mortality on either stressed or control groups. However, EEHV was isolated from both groups.
