My data was obtained from two sources :one is from the official census and the other is from mailed-in questionnaires. The subjects are alumnus from NTU and NCKU who have received degrees in the environmental engineering department within the past 15 years. After making comparisons between the official census and the questionnaires, it was found that with the limited growth of enterprises, the graduate population is increasingly larger in contrast to the possible job market, especially in regards to the additional graduates coming from training schools and colleges. The results show that some explanatory variables have significant explanatory power concerning the subjects' evaluation. A significant variable for part A (undergraduate courses) is “occupation”. Variables that show significance for part B(graduate courses)are “graduation time”, ”alumni or student status”, “environmental engineering/science or environmental planning/ management”, and ”occupation”. At the evaluation of courses' planning, 78.3% and 58.4% subjects are satisfied with the university courses in experimentation and competency. 72.9% and 55.3% of subjects in part B are satisfied with the basic and design courses. In regards to the schools' education, subjects had a high satisfactory rate with the “teaching material” and “the relations between teacher and students”. From the questionnaires, future suggestions to course improvements are:students of environmental engineering need enforcement in additional fields such as, “computer programs, language, law and management” to face the diversified society. Key words:environmental engineering education, environmental engineering students, environmental planning and management. Shang-Lien LO 駱尚廉 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 106 zh-TW
