It not only ensures the safety of the operation but also elongates the life cycle of CD-R drive. In this thesis, the dynamic characteristics of the one-ball automatic balancer are studied. The governing equations of the CD-R drive packed with an automatic balancer are derived by employing Lagrange’s Equations. The influence of system parameters on the stability of the equilibrium positions is discussed. Also the transient behavior of the system is simulated. A new design of automatic balancer is proposed to improve the transient performance of the CD-R drive. Finally, the method of Mutilple Scales is employed to study the behavior of the system when there is no fixed equilibrium position.
