There are many image compression algorithms created for the request of the people. We need different image compression technology for a variety of applications. This thesis is mainly aimed at the lossless image data compression technology. We analyze following lossless compression algorithm lossless JPEG, JPEG-LS, CALIC, Lossless JPEG-2000 and PNG. The result show that JPEG-LS is a good compression algorithm. For the business application purpose, the lossless image compression algorithm JPEG-LS have the advantage of low cost and high compressed ratio. In this thesis, we introduce the JPEG-LS algorithm and we also design the JPEG-LS encoder for the application of some independent system. The design strategy is modular design for easy maintain .
