Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 電信工程學研究所 === 91 === In the thesis, we make a performance analysis of the Impulse Radio system by simulations. Since the system does not have its standards, so we determine all the parameters by ourselves in order to have a good performance. Impulse Radio is a form of ultra-wideband signal which transmit an ultra-short pulse to achieve an ultra-wide bandwidth and low power spectral density. Thus it can coexist with the existing systems without interfering them. From the performance analysis, we can see that the system has a good processing gain against the narrowband interference. The processing gain comes from the short pulse, low duty cycle and the repetition times. The performance of the M-ary system which can reduce the interference to the existing system is also shown in the thesis.
The UWB channels we use in the simulations are measured by the Network Analyzer and randomly choosen from the data base. The multipath fading can be reduced by its high resolution. But the number of resolvable multipath components also increase, this will degrade the performance of multiple access system.
We find that the performance of the Impulse Radio is worse than the DS-SS one. Since the BPSK has a potential advantage over the PPM. But the benefit of the Impulse Radio is the low costs comparing to other system. The multiple access capability will increase if a good time hopping codes is used.
