In this thesis, we implement a satellite receiver module, which can receive signals from a satellite and provide high quality Digital television programs on PC. It can also and receives other data stream such as service information as well. Our system is based on the Microsoft DirectShow architecture, which simplifies the task of creating digital media applications on the Windows platform; DirectShow isolates applications from the complexities of data transports, hardware differences, and synchronization. Therefore, our module may facilitate various applications. We implement two applications with our satellite receiver module and demonstrate how easily it can be used to develop Digital television applications. The first application is to embed our module into an MPEG-4 scene. With the interactive property of MPEG-4, we can implement an interactive TV with an Electronic Program Guide (EPG). The second application is to demonstrate how the broadcast program stream can be received from satellite to the internet.
