In this thesis we tried to investigate if the same or similar acquisition strategy a company successfully adopted in one country can be employed by the same or another company in other countries to increase the opportunity of successful M&A. Polygram Music not only is a leading music company in Taiwan but also in the world. The study covers a period of 10 years while Polygram Music was actively engaged in a series of M&A activities in Taiwan. We found that during this period Polygram Music effectively used M&A as a tool to attain fast growth and expand its market share. In this case study, through analyses of various perspectives including industry characteristics, business strategy, M&A strategy, M&A leading posture, integrated management information system, human resource management, configuration of organization and core competence, key successful factors (KSF) regarding to M&A of Polygram Music were identified. The KSF we identified in this study provides a good basis for other companies to duplicate/deliberate and the rationales maintained in this study may be hypothesized for future empirical testing.
