Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 新聞研究所 === 91 === The paper is mainly to explore how the pollution of high tech industries is continually ignored in Taiwan. According to the paper, the fact that the government in Taiwan put the economic development before environmental protection contributes a lot to the neglect of pollution that high tech industries brought. Besides, the incomplete environmental protection policies, insufficient pollution investigation budget, political factors, and lack of information to the public also make it difficult to re-evaluate how serious the pollution is. The paper will provide a multiple-perspective from the government, the industries, and locals to re-think the problem that the pollution may bring. Regardless of the government’s plan about the“ Green Silicon Island”, it is still a castle in the sky when we take the present environmental protection policies into consideration. Results of the paper show that the “total amount regulation” in Hsinchu Science based Industry Park(HSIP) cannot control or reduce the pollution but makes the pollution legally tolerable. The pollution HSIP bought to us should not be neglected anymore. The government in Taiwan should re-evaluate the pollution high tech industries brought. The pollution that Silicon Valley suffered in 1980s should taught the government in Taiwan a great lesson. The pollution that high tech industries brought to us is not only a problem the people in Hsinchu face but also a problem that everyone in Taiwan cannot escape. The government in Taiwan should re-consider what negative influence the high tech industries will have on the environment and to what extent the pollution high tech industries brought is tolerable.
