With all the gym space, fancy advertisement, marketing strategies, they keep making “beauty myth”for women. They also teach women exercise to become a standard beauty; meanwhile, women’s bodies have been thought as merchandises, which are controlled and changed at will. Young women in gyms seem to accept this value of body. But based on their experiences, the body images they rebuild will probably become the destruction of traditional concept of women’s bodies. There are two reasons for this phenomenon; one is that women have found multiplicity of bodies for gyms displaying all varieties of bodies; the other is that the feeling of exercises makes them understand that their bodies mean more than displaying beauty to them. Considering gyms as text space, therefore, through speculation, women’s body experiences become text poaching and the beauty myth once created could also possibly be subverted. For this reason, through speculation, women will no longer controlled by the capitalism of patriarchy, and all resistance to patriarchy will be possible. 畢恆達 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 89 zh-TW
