Abstract
The creative work and critical analysis of Mr. Jong-long Lin are related to both adult literature and children literature. In children literature, he has done much research in the teaching methods of composition for the junior high and the elementary school teachers, and has written many stories and novels for children as well. He has also re-written and translated some children''''s reading material, and has been actively involved in the writing, interpretation, teaching and promotion of children''''s poetry.
This research, using inductive methods, interviews and article-analysis, is focused on Mr. Lin''''s work in the field of children''''s poetry, in an attempt to find his contribution to the developments of children''''s poems in Taiwan. It consists of six chapters.
Chapter I: The preface.
It indicates the motivation and purpose for doing this research, the documents and researching methods being used, as well as the extent and limitations of this research.
Chapter II: Mr. Lin''''s career of writing children''''s poems.
It details the story of Mr. Lin''''s life, his poetry writing (including his theories and his creations), and his editorial work (including translation, teaching and journal entries). It also indicates his enthusiasm and passion in the creation and promotion of the children''''s poems.
Chapter III: Mr. Lin''''s edition of poems.
It explains the reasons for publishing Moon Light and Taiwanese Children Literature, and the position of his company at that time. The analysis of his 119 books published between April 1977 and February 2003 is included as well.
Chapter IV: Mr. Lin''''s points of view of children''''s poems.
It states Mr. Lin''''s definition of children''''s poems, his personal opinions of poetry development, and his ideas of writing poems. His viewpoints show that he has been strongly influenced by Japanese poets'''' views of children''''s poems.
Chapter V: Analysis of Mr. Lin''''s Children''''s Poetry.
It categorizes Mr. Lin''''s poems, his expressions of affection, and analyzes the inner structures and the arrangement of the characters of his poems. His unique style is also analyzed, based on his different themes.
Chapter VI: Conclusion.
According to the sequences of Mr. Lin''''s writing, the tracing of the development in his literary career and his contribution in the field of children''''s poems are well catalogued.
