Abstract
Shu Fu-jane lives in Yuenling, Changhua County.He created his first Taiwanese children’s song “Tar”accidentally in 1964, and he has accumulated more than 300 pieces of it so far. The main points of this thesis is to probe into the proceed how he creates children’s songs, to analyze the feature of his Taiwanese children’s songs, and to find out the position of those songs in the history of children’s songs from his creation and promotion for Taiwanese children’s songs.
Fuchen Shi was born in Yuanling, Changhwa county. After creating his first children’s song “Asphalt” in 1964 by accident, he has accumulated more than 300 works up to now.
This article is to discuss how Fuchen Shi creates children’s songs, and to analyze the feature of them. Also, to find out the role Shi plays in the history of Taiwanese children’s songs from his works and propagation of children’s songs.
From 1964 to June,2002, Shi published eleven books that introduce children’s songs. In this thesis, we would like to study these books to understand how Shi creates by having an interview with him, and to conclude the feature of his children’s songs by classifying his material and by using the classification according to form and value in “Study of Chinese Children’s Songs” written by ChengChi Chen.
The feature of Shi’s children’s songs is that he applies widespread material, and he cares about his hometown. The value of his children’s songs not only enriches children in knowledge and feeling, but reminds adults of their good old days in childhood.
For the whole development of children’s songs in Taiwan, Shi’s works in late four decades could be regarded as a miniature of “the history of children’s songs in Taiwan.”. In additional to creating children’s songs, Shi also collects traditional rhythmic folk songs. He makes speeches, and introduces Taiwanese children’s songs everywhere. Meanwhile, he teaches singing and propagates those songs on TV program.
After enrolling Music Graduate School in DongWu University in 1999, he regards children’s songs as the center of his study. His mater thesis “Study of Works of Taiwanese Children’s Songs” provides creators of children’s songs and researchers with important experiences and records.
The whole thesis is divided into five chapters, including :”Introductions”, “Shu Fu-jane and Taiwanese children’s songs” , “Analysis of Taiwanese children’s songs of Shu Fu-jane in lyrics”(1)─creation of lyrics and rhythm part”, “Analysis of Taiwanese children’s songs of Shu Fu-jane in lyrics”(2)─traditional rhyme and rhythm part”, and “Conclusions”.
