Fifty-one patients were devided into two groups, which were fed diet with and without taurine supplement during March to July 2002, resp- ectively. After treatment, the blood of all patients were collected and ana- lyzed the biological characters. The distribution of patient’s age was from 24 to 83 years old. The blo- od characters in hemodialysis patients were differt to those of health people. It was found that the average levels of serum WBC, RBC and platelet in the hemodialysis patients with taurine supplement were higher than those in th- e group without taurine supplement. The average value of MDA(malondia- ladehyde) in the group with taurine supplement was lower than that of oth- er group without taurine supplement. Using HPLC analysis, the concentra- tin of taurine in blood was all lower than 0.5 ppm.
