Time-series data from both countries were gathered and used in trend analysis for capture and aquaculture fisheries. China has a comparative advantage in producing aquaculture products because of its low production cost and the availability of land suitable for aquaculture. Taiwan’s fisheries generally are at a disadvantage since their producers must use higher priced inputs in their production. The main foreign competitor of Taiwanese fisheries in the world market is China. Thus, seafood export data from China and Taiwan were analyzed to provide their international competition ability. Export market share(EMS), relative position(RP) and revealed comparative advantage index(RCA)were estimated for major fishery products such as tuna, tilapia, eel, squid, etc. In foreign markets, U.S. and Japan are two major markets for Taiwan and China export of fresh, chilled or frozen fishery products. A combination of factors has affected the ability of Taiwan’s seafood industry to compete with China in U.S. and Japan markets. David S. Liao 廖聖惠 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 145 zh-TW
