First, the research used the content analysis to analyze the contents of PE Department’s websites and the implementation of these websites nowadays. In this study, e-mail questionnaires were used to explore the website management and the Internet Public Relations execution. The data of this study were processed by description statistics, and t-test. The results of this study were as follows: 1.PE Departments have set their own websites which attached to the major website in colleges/universities. The rate of successful connection between the websites and the internet was 100%. In current situation, the IPR items such as introduction, course introduction, BBS, e-mail address, message board, websites link, and information download were designed in more than 50 percent of the websites. At present, the IPR communication of PE Departments belongs to one-way asymmetric communication. 2.Private colleges/universities put more emphasis on the value of image building and Internet linking than public ones did. 3.All of the PE Departments hold the opinion that the Campus Computer Centers should be responsible for IPR. Besides, the PE departments consider information download, BBS, course introduction, connection correctness, website guide, and department’s development and history as the most effective functions of IPR. Third, students were the most important IPR objects and the number of website counter was the effective index for evaluating the performance of IPR. 4.There was a significant difference among different PE Departments of various backgrounds in their view of the effect of website functions on IPR (p<.05). 5.There was also a significant difference among the PE Departments that had different amount of students. The difference mainly existed in who should be responsible for IPR, who was the objects of IPR, and how the IPR worked (p<.05). PE Departments may not only be able to build up an external image and make a two-way communication with the public, but also can publicize the spirits, goals of the department and become a tool of communication for students.
